Feeling Bad :(

Well, today is my birthday and I was really hoping to go out to dinner and have a nice night, but alas I am not feeling good. Ben and I both have had bad tummies for the past two days. It has effected me worse than him, but it has still been bad for us both. The only thing I can think of is that it is food poisoning. I bought groceries on Sunday at Wal-Mart. I always start at the back of the store where the cold things are, but I am usually so fast in there that the food doesn’t have much time to warm up. But Sunday was different. I had Isaac with me and Wal-Mart was packed….even more than usual! So with a baby, long lines and being by myself, it was a long trip. By the time I made it home, got Isaac settled and unloaded everything it had been quite a while. When I finally got to the frozen pizza I bought it was definitely room temperature and had been that way for a while since even the box was a little soggy. I hesitated putting it up for a second, but thought it would be fine. Well, Ben and I ate it Sunday night and we have both been oh so sick ever since. Does anyone know if bacteria could grow on something like that? Either way….I think I will start my shopping at the front of the store from now on!!

On The Go!

Okay…so I think blogging for me is only going to happen about once a month. I have been waiting to announce Isaac crawling until Ben could get the video uploaded (he won’t let me do it). But alas the boys at CommonThread pretty much work non-stop so I think he will be walking before his crawling video is uploaded. Anyway, Isaac has been making forward progress for about a month now and has become quite the pro at getting around now. He has even started trying to pull up!! It is happening so fast I can hardly believe it. I am now realizing that things you would never imagine someone finding….a seven month old thinks are the greatest things ever!

I am trying to baby proof as well as set some things as off limits…ha ha! We basically had no solution for hiding our TV equipment so I am thinking after 4 months of me saying no and redirecting he might get the hint…right?! :)

Wyrosdick Family Beach Trip ‘08

So we are back and rested from our Wyrosdick Family beach trip. Every other year all 21 of us get together (in one house) and have a great beach trip. It is wonderful to get to see parts of the family that we usually only see at Christmas. This year I was a little nervous since it was Isaac’s first major road trip….plus it is always scary to mess with a six month old’s sleeping habits. But I have to say Isaac did GREAT! I think he actually slept better at the beach than he did at home. We did have one bad night when we ate out, but to his credit it was two hours past his bedtime. Other than that he did great with it all. He got in the pool, the ocean and the sand and never fussed. I do have to say that I look forward to the next trip since he will be old enough to interact with the other kids and his environment a little more. But all said and done….I couldn’t have asked for a better baby!

Ben’s attempt at the RipStikĀ®. I have to admit he was pretty good at it by the end of the week.

Learning to Crawl

Well, it’s official….Isaac is up on all fours! He hasn’t started moving yet, but he has become quite a pro at getting up on all fours and rocking back and forth. It is exciting and scary all at the same time. Especially since I know my days of sitting down are coming to an end.

And by the way….this new found interest in moving has made changing diapers so much fun! :)

Eating Solid Foods

So at Isaac’s 4 month appointment, Dr. McCown finally gave us the green light to start feeding him solid foods. The first few times we attempted this Isaac would have NO part of it. He would refuse to open his mouth and then the few times we were able to get some food in, he would make an awful face and spit most of it back out. It got a little better once I started mixing fruit in with his rice cereal, but it definitely took a while.

Now he absolutely loves eating….well maybe not when it comes to his vegetables…..he is definitely his daddy’s boy! But if I get his bananas out, he will sit and squeal and pull my hands to his mouth as soon as he sees me coming with the spoon. And then the second I get the spoon out he starts crying for more. I seriously can’t feed him fast enough sometimes!

Saving Money

Okay….in our quest to save money we decided we would try and groom the dogs ourselves. We went to PetSmart and purchased some clippers and a How To Video. Since we had just gotten back from Mobile and I was exhausted, Ben took the first turn. According to Ben, Tiger went pretty well and then Sam was horrible. It is amazing how much a ten pound dog can squirm. The next night I took my turn in cleaning them up some more and working on their faces. After about 2 hours, the dogs traumatized, me sweating and covered in dog hair and itching all over…I was finally done. Unfortunately grooming a dog’s face is a LOT harder than I imagined. The good news is that their hair will grow back. In the mean time though, our dogs look a little rough. :(

Baby Feet

I just had to post this picture since Isaac’s feet are one of my absolute favorite things. I sit and play with them while he eats or when we he is laying on the floor. The great part is that he has started to get ticklish on them as well. :) So precious!

Trip to Mobile

Okay….so I am finally hoping to get back to blogging!

I will start with our trip a couple of weeks ago to Mobile to see Papi and Mami. Although I was extremely nervous with this being Isaac’s first long trip, it went really well. On the way down, we stopped twice and things finally started to go smoothly once Ben moved into the backseat with Isaac (he wanted me to drive so he could work). After we arrived and Papi and Mami showered Isaac with kisses we unloaded our “packed to the rim” van. It is amazing how much stuff a baby needs! We spent 4 great days in Mobile and saw a ton of family….all of which loved seeing Isaac.

The only down side was that Isaac slept in a pack n play in our room. Since we normally sleep with our doors open and no monitor when we are home, I am not used to all the sounds Isaac makes in his sleep. Since I didn’t want him to cry and wake everyone up, I was up a TON during the night patting him and putting his passi back in. By the third night I was absolutely exhausted. Needless to say, Monday morning we left early and we were both in bed very early. :)

Overall, the trip was wonderful and Isaac did very well with everything. It was so great to see Papi and Mami and maybe one day they will move to Birmingham!!

Finding His Thumb?

I’m not sure if this will last, but recently Isaac has become much more interested in his hands. Below are a few pictures of him sitting in “his recliner” sucking on his thumb/hand. Usually he just sucks on his forearm. It always cracks me up, since he is so close to getting his hand in his mouth, but most of the time ends up slobbering all over his arm instead. Either way, it is exciting that he has found a way to soothe himself some. Plus he just looks so cute doing it. :)

It Actually Happened!!!

It actually happened….Isaac slept through the night last night!!!! He went to sleep at 8:45 and didn’t make a sound until 6:45 this morning! Of course, I woke up every hour after 3 am thinking I heard him getting up and then I woke up at 6 am certain that he had stopped breathing. But alas….he was just sleeping!! Yeah! I truly began to believe that this day would never come. It is similar to the belief I had at the end of pregnancy that I would be pregnant forever. You know that it is not true, but there is a part of you that begins to believe that you might be the first person in history that it might happen to. I was starting to think I might be the first person to still get up twice a night with her five year old.

Although every night going forward might not be as good as last night, I am definitely grateful for the extra sleep I got for today. Needless to say….this momma is grinning from ear to ear! Ben and I even went out for a celebration breakfast at Chic-Fil-A! :)
